Five Minutes | Harrison Gordon By: Sam Spedale Photos:Andrew Miller
I met Harrison snowboarding at Mt
High or Bear Mtn. when we were in high school. We started
doing trips up to Mammoth anytime we could and eventually moved there.
For three years we learned what it was like living away from our parents
in a drunk ass ski town. During that time we met just about everyone
in Mammoth, had some amazing times, and tried to get as good at snowboarding
as we could. I think it worked out well for all of us. In
the fall of 2007 Harrison made the move out to Utah, (copying me again)
along with a whole crew of other friends we met in Mammoth. Harrison
is awesome. His years spent riding Mt. High, Bear, Summit, and
Mammoth, made him a great snowboarder. Harrison’s not only one
of my favorite people to snowboard with, but he’s hilarious and a
great person to be friends with.

Who gave you the nickname Boardin Gordon? My friend Lance
Where are you originally from and how did you get into snowboarding? I'm originally from Sherman Oaks, Ca so the closest resorts are/were Snow Summit, Mtn High, and Mammoth. I started at Mammoth because I saw some snowboarders and thought they looked cool and I also skateboarded before so I was into that as well.
Was it rough growing up on the streets of LA? No it was really easy for the most part because I have so many homies who roll so hard all the time. And i was out in Westlake Village at my moms a lot too, there’s no crime there really just rich people.
Do you roll with any gangs? Yes I’ve been in a couple gangs or crews over the years most notable ones were TB, also the GSB, and finally the Rainbow which I wasn't in, i just knew some fools in it. Now you might call Team Thunder a gang but I don’t know if they are into that.
Do people ever confuse you with Shaun White? No, I have some facial hair and I don't think that he can grow a mustache like i can, maybe he can?. I am more of a Sean Black fan.
You moved to Mammoth when you were 16, tell us about that. Moved up to Mammoth with my friend from Newburry Park named Scott (Blum). At first we stayed at the Spedale's house, then got kicked out for something I don’t really remember. Then we stayed in Allison's garage and slept on the trampoline, and then finally getting our own place, the North Village (rats den) suite 16! Thanks Allison and Cheyne and Tyler for letting me stay.
You've been getting into bars for the past 5 years. Are you looking forward to turning 21? I am looking forward to being 21 years old. Getting into a bar is easy to do with a mustache! It's no secret. But yea people always think I’m older. This friend of mine named Binky gave me my first fake and I had that shitty thing for a while then It got taken away at Dubliners. I have a legit one right now though/!
Where did you live this past season? I lived in SLC, Utah. Close to Fairmont skate park.
Where did you ride mostly? Brighton mostly
Who do you ride with? I rode with many people there anyone who was around really.
You started riding for Lance's new company Ashbury Goggles. What do you think about them? Ashbury is the coolest. I’m excited for the sunglasses!
So who did you film with this year and how do you feel about your season? I was with Team Thunder most of the winter, but I’ll also have a part in the Big Bear movie and a cameo shot or two in the TWS movie These Days. I feel like I could have done way more. I'm really excited about next season so I can try to do way better.
Tell us about Team Thunder and what they are all about? They are all about snowboarding and being really artsy. No just kidding, It exciting to be in a movie like this. I think that everyone in the movie has a ot of potential for great things! We had 1 camera and a bunch of friends, and basically Everyone filmed each other over the whole season. No one gets paid to do this video and everyone does it on there own time. Were all just friends, so the attitude is just do it yourself and have fun.
What's it like having a girlfriend that is a professional snowboarder? It's pretty cool. I have unlimited stickers and stuff so you know...its amazing
Do you have any plans to go snowboarding this summer? Well I'd like too, but I’m going to school so maybe after that i can try to go somewhere. I’m skateboarding a lot though so that’s what i like to do down here mostly.
Do you like to listen to music when you snowboard, and what have you been listening to lately? I used too, but not so much anymore. Lately I’ve been tuning out to some bands like the 13th floor elevators, Lou reed, The Beatles are always in there as well.
What's your favorite type of terrain to ride? Everything really, Brighton on a powder day is amazing.
What are your plans for next season? I'd like to go on some trips. This winter I was strictly in SLC, accept when I came home I rode Big Bear as much as I could and Mammoth.
Why don't you be polite and thank the people who have helped you out? Thanks to everyone of my friends, the Wright family, Glen Greenburg, the Hakkers, the Spedale's, Brandon Richards, Matt Sickels, Jesse Grandkowski, Bradshaw, The Crewsayders, Justin Meyer/Johnny Miller, Jon Francis, Corey Smith, Evan Lefevre, Scott Blum, Desiree and Mom and Dad. Thanks guys.
