**Mac is a twenty one year old kid hailing from Southern California.  He has been living and shredding in Mammoth for the past couple of years.  If you have ever been to Mammoth you have defiantly seen him lapping the park and wondering to your self.... who the hell is that kid?? Well now you know.   The past two years Mac has made some solid contest appearances and got some sick shit done in both the back county and streets.  Trust me when I say he can hold his own on all three and you will defiantly been seeing more this guy in the future.

Name: Mac Spedale

DOB: 3-10-86

HOOKUPS: Forum, Special Blend, Grenade, Val Surf, Smith

Yo Mac  how has you season been going?
Its been really fun, so many good park days. Its just depressing how little snow we’ve had this year. But the sun is good and I’ve learned lots so I’m happy.

Major lack of snow in Mammoth compared to last year, how many pow days have you had?

I think I have had like 5 this year. But I guess that’s because we had a million the last two years.

This year you seem to be on a whole new level and I have seen you throw down some insane shit.  Are you taking steroids or something?

Yeah, but I’ve also been trying harder too. If I don’t get better than I was the year before I would feel like I didn’t try. This year I’ve just been working on the stuff that I’ve always wanted to do.

You and Harrison (Gordon) have this new trick. I learned it last time we rode but forgot the name.  How did this come about?

It’s Harrison’s trick really, I just copy him because he’s so fresh. It’s like a 5050 and in the middle of the rail you just pivot and switch around to a switch 5050 real quick, no jumping just sliding around. Its really fun and you can do it a bunch of different ways. Harrison just wants to do some new stuff and try not to copy people, so I guess that’s why he does cool tricks all the time. He also did it down a handrail with stairs which was crazy.

So earlier this season you took your first trip to Sonora how was that?

It was sick. Gabe is the man, he pretty much showed me where all of the jumps and zones are. That place is crazy though, I wish it would’ve snowed more so we could go out there more often. There are so many jumps everywhere. I think I got my sled stuck like 20 times. There wasn’t much snow but some of the stuff was good.

Who do you think is the most underrated rider in Mammoth?

Cody Rosenthal and Lonnie, they are really real good. Like really real real good yanadadamean? If you saw them ride everyday, you would agree.

On a typical day who can we find you shredding with?

The 5 boroughs crew, Joe carter, Kyle Lopiccolo, Nick, Cody, Joe, Peter and all of the Crewsaidurz, you guys, and Harrison whenever he’s around anymore,  there are so many people to ride with on a normal day in mammoth, Its really fun.

So what’s the deal with the sponsors? Last season and this season you had a full Ride set up and now your riding Forum and Blend?

Just trying out different stuff, I needed a little change. Some weird things happened and that was that.

What do you prefer?  An insane still photo or Video clip?

Both duh.

Last summer you did the whole Hood summer shredding and working at Windells.  What’s the plan this year?
I am going to go out there again and coach for a few sessions, but I also want to go to Argentina with these really cool dudes, I think you might know them.

The season is winding down what, when and where was your best time so far?

I don’t know man, there have been so many fun days. Any day that I learn something is a great day, filming railings in Utah was a good time, Sonora was really good, its too hard to say. Its going to snow again so hopefully the next pow day is the best day.

What and who inspires you to go snowboarding?

Its fun. I have fun everyday snowboarding, I don’t have to worry or think about anything besides having a good time. Plus you are with your friends all day.

Top five shred songs?
I don’t know that always changes. Right now I’m really siked on mary jane by rick james.

Are going to school right now? Does that get in the way of riding?

Yeah, I have to do homework and go to school all the time when I’d like to cruise around and film things and go to more contests and stuff. But I still get to ride park everyday so I have learned more than I ever thought I would. It’s just a lot harder to GTS as you like to say.

What are the worst things about snowboarding and the Industry?

I don’t know, it’s a much cooler industry then anything else I have seen. I would just say I’m not really down with all of the hype on image. It seems like some kids just aren’t themselves, they’re trying to be like super pro so they dress all crazy. And the companies like this because the kids do, which is weird to me. There’s just too much imitation.

What made you want to move to Mammoth in the first place?

I used to come here when I was young and it was my favorite place and close to home. I was obsessed with snowboarding in highschool and I just wanted to ride the amazing mammoth jumps everyday and see what I could learn. My brother moved up here the year before I did and was into it, then me and Harrison made the move.

What do you love the most about it?

June, and the insane amounts of snow, which we didn’t experience either of this year. It’s also cool how you can have so many friends in such a little place.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I hope still snowboarding as much as I do these days, but doing switch double rodeos and stuff.
