United announces daily Chicago - Montrose/Telluride Service for Winter 08-09
Atlanta and Los Angeles also adding flights
Telluride, Colo. - United Airlines will begin daily flights from Chicago to Montrose/Telluride Regional Airport on December 11, 2008. Southwest Colorado area visitors and residents alike will have quick, comfortable, convenient non-stop air service to Chicago and many connecting cities on United.
In addition, United will also be increasing the number of flights it operates from Los Angeles to Montrose/Telluride to twice-weekly. Delta Airlines will be increasing its Atlanta – Montrose route from two to three flights a week.
The new flight brings the total number of winter non-stops to the Montrose/Telluride Regional Airport to eight cities, including daily Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Houston and Salt Lake City, plus Newark (weekly), Atlanta (3x weekly) and Los Angeles (2x weekly). Direct flights from Denver and Phoenix into the Telluride Regional airport are also available during the winter season.
The Chicago Service is going to be operated by a CRJ 700 Regional Jet, with 66 seats and a first class cabin.
“We’re very excited to be offering service non-stop from Chicago ,” stated Tom Hess , President of the Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization (TMRAO). “These flights will provide excellent service to travelers and outbound locals alike.”
“The Chicago service offers a great daily option for skiers and riders in the Midwest and Northeast, traditionally strong markets for us, to easily get to Telluride,” said Telluride Ski & Golf CEO Dave Riley. “The addition of the daily Chicago service, plus the increase in flights from Los Angeles and Atlanta , strengthens Telluride’s position among the top few ski destinations for ease of access and non-stop service.”
