TELUS Spin wraps up with a massive crowd after 10 days of spring skiing, adrenaline and partying!
Mont-Tremblant - TELUS Spin, presented in collaboration with Coors Light, ended Sunday, April 6th, after 10 days of breathtaking competitions, free concerts, sun and spring skiing. As expected, the trails were buzzing with all the participants in Saturday’s Mc Donald’s Skiercross and in Sunday’s Boardercross, as they raced down the trail four at a time to get their share of the $12,000 cash purse of each event. On both days the competitors really put out a fight, particularly in the pro category, and its Whistler’s skier Davey Barr and Tremblant’s boarder Jasey-Jay Anderson who got away with the top spots and the 4000$ cash prizes awarded to the winners. As for the music, the shows followed one after the other on TELUS stage at the sunny and crowded Place St-Bernard, creating a thunderous atmosphere in the pedestrian village. After performances by Bonjour Brumaire, Imposs, The Furlongs, Something Called U and Vulgaires Machins last weekend, Radio Radio, Fox Fraser, Taktika, Sans Pression, L’Assemblée, Alfa Rococo and Mobile were on stage this weekend. The last Spin Expérience at Le P’tit Caribou wrapped it all up on Sunday evening with DJ Eloi Brunelle. Popular competitions
Throughout the event, numerous sports competitions attracted high-calibre participants and lots of spectators. More than 250 athletes took part in eight events, and tons of spectators came to Tremblant during these ten days of adrenaline and concerts. After the first weekend, which started off strong with Coca-Cola’s spectacular T4 and Billabong Flaunt it on Saturday, as well as Salomon Jib Academy and Burton Junior on Sunday, the week went on with the Urban Jib on Rue des Remparts Thursday evening. It all ended with a magnificent second weekend. A vision of pleasure with demos and expositions
Competitions and spectacular skateboard and BMX demos also took place throughout the week. The public was genuinely impressed by the pros who showed it all off. As of the cultural program, the Quartier d’Art gave people a chance to discover the work of many talented artists and it’s also where the winning photos of Snowboard Canada’s 2007 and 2008 photo contests were exhibited, besides hosting live creation from the featured artists. On top of that, there was a rendezvous every night in the different bars of the village for the Spin Experiences that combined the art of a photographer with the music of a D.J. A true success for the 6th edition
Back for the sixth time, TELUS Spin—the most popular spring event in Eastern North America—was once again a great success, thanks notably to the diversity of the competitions, the originality of the set-ups, the musical program and, of course, the unique spring ambience, which put everyone in a festive mood; as well as the unforgettable parties. Skiing and events till April 20
At Tremblant, spring keeps on going until April 20, which is when the ski hill closes till next winter. Thanks to the abundant snowfalls of the season, the conditions are magnificent, and two events still await snow lovers from now until the end of the season. On Saturday, April 12, the Caribou Cup invites skiers and boarders to disguise themselves to cross a 70-foot long pool of water before completing the final stretch along the P’tit Caribou. Finally, on Sunday, come treat your sweet tooth to the Taffy Strip at the mountain summit. Bring the whole family to the top of the Beauchemin trail to savour some maple taffy around a huge table of snow. Go to Tremblant.ca for complete results and details for the upcoming events.
