Sunshine's Spring Concert Series Heats Up With Performances By Canada's Top Country Acts
George Canyon, Gord Bamford and Aaron Pritchett to Play Live Concerts
Banff, AB - Sunshine Village is proud to host Canada's top country acts with George Canyon May 3-4 and Redneck Rodeo Weekend featuring Gord Bamford and Aaron Pritchett on May 10-11.
Fantastic spring conditions, stunning mountain scenery, great music and fun events await skiers and boarders this spring at Sunshine. All the concerts/events take place in the village and are FREE to anyone with a lift ticket, gondola only ticket or season's pass.
May 3 and May 4 - George Canyon - 2:00 pm
At the JUNO Awards in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2007 George accepted yet another Juno Award for "Somebody Wrote Love," for Country Recording of the Year. It was George's second JUNO award, after winning Country Recording of the Year for "One Good Friend."
May 10 and May 11 - Gord Bamford - 12:00 pm
From singing at community functions in Lacombe, Alberta, to opening shows for Tim McGraw and Kenny Rogers, Gord Bamford is hailed as one of the young guns of "honest" country. With Byron Hill, Bamford penned several Top 20 radio hits, including honky-tonk kickers "Joe's Place" and "The Watering Hole" to great love songs such as "I Would For You" and "We're All Cowboys." With a 2008 JUNO award nomination for Country Recording of the Year, Bamford's third album, Honkytonks and Heartaches, features the Top 10 hit singles "Blame It On That Red Dress" and "Stayed 'Til Two."
May 10 and May 11 - Aaron Pritchett - 2:30 pm
Aaron exploded onto the country music scene in 2001, winning the Canadian Country Music Association's Project Discovery Talent Contest. Soon after, he released the single "You Can't Say I Didn't Love You." The track reached top 20 on Canadian radio for an enduring 30 week run and the video went to #3 on Country Music Television. With hits "Hold my Beer" and "Big Wheel," Aaron received a Juno nomination for Country Recording of the Year in 2007.
May 10 and May 11 - Redneck Rodeo
The first-ever redneck rodeo will take place on the same days as the live performances by Gord Bamford and Aaron Pritchett. The redneck rodeo is a fun and outlandish event that non-skiers and boarders can also enjoy.
- Hubcap Hurl: 11am-3pm in the village near the concert stage
- Redneck Horseshoes: 11am-3pm in the village near the concert stage

Not your typical ski or snowboard race, competitors will not race on skis or a snowboard. Rather competitors will take a hobby horse and make their way through the gates, attempt to lasso a calf and finish off with the beer can stomp. It will be a dual drag race so first one down in each race will advance to the A side and losers to the B. There will be additional points for those dressed redneck style and features great prizes!! Registration runs from 9 am to 11 am with the race starting at 11:30 am on the Pandemonium Run.
Sunshine Village, Alberta's number one ski and snowboard resort receives over 30 feet of natural snow annually and boasts 12 lifts, including the most quads in the Canadian Rockies. Sunshine each year attracts more than 500,000 skiers and boarders during the Canadian Rockies' longest season stretching from November 15, 2007 to May 19, 2008.
