Squaw Valley USA Presents Peaks & Lagoons Spring Weekend Celebration, April 12-13
First-Ever Ultimate Boarder™ Competition, Live Music, Pool Parties & More
Squaw Valley USA - Tahoe’s longest season, the Swimming Lagoon & Spa at High Camp, expansive terrain and the best party scene on the Lake are all reasons why skiers and riders flock to Squaw Valley in the spring. A tribute to springtime goodness, Squaw Valley USA is hosting Peaks & Lagoons, a weekend-long celebration April 12-13, 2008. Live hip hop at the pool, Toyota Sick & Twisted Half Pipe and Rail Jam, and snowboard, surf, and skate legends making history at the Ultimate Boarder™ Competition are all part of Peaks & Lagoons Weekend, this weekend at Squaw Valley USA.
On Saturday, April 12 California’s highest pool party comes to High Camp, el. 8,200’ with San Francisco MC, Good Word performing live at the Lagoon and Spa at 1 pm. Influenced by Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and The Ruler, Slick Rick, Good Word delivers fresh songs with mind blowing lyrics, unforgettable beats, and catchy hooks you hope stick in your head. The “underground/independent” hip hop MC has performed in over 40 different cities across the US, and the popularity of his newest album, "Coulda Been That," is spreading the good word about Good Word to hip hop enthusiasts every where. On April 12, spring breakers can shred the mountain in the morning and spend the afternoon poolside, sipping on a cold one and getting down to the sounds of Good Word until 3:30 pm.
Saturday evening (April 12) the action turns to Zenbu for the Ultimate Boarder™ Athlete Party featuring live hip with Mistah F.A.B, JStalin & B.I.G., as well as the Ultimate Boarder™ competitors. This party is open to public, 21 & up. Doors open at 9:30 pm and tickets are $20.
Snow sport pros and International-caliber competitions are no stranger to Squaw Valley, this coming weekend marks the first time in history that iconic surf and skateboard pros ascend on the home of the 1960 Winter Olympics for a competition. On Sunday April 13, the lords of board sports (surf, skate and snow) from across the globe go head-to-head in the snowboard component of the Ultimate Boarder™ Competition, taking place all day in the Riviera Park. Lift ticket holders and passholders can watch it all go down for no charge. A spectator (walking/non-ski) lift ticket will also be available, as the Ultimate Boarder™ course is accessible by foot.
"The triathlon of our generation," the Ultimate Boarder™, is the only event of its kind: a one-week competition to find the first athlete who can conquer the art of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. For a complete list of participating athletes and event details visit ultimateboarder.com.
