Vista California—Nidecker Snowboards is pleased to announce that Cyril Neri has regained his title as Verbier Xtreme Champion. Cyril first won the contest back in 1998. Neri, a native of Switzerland has long been known for his backcountry ability. “You grow up in the Swiss Alps and you learn to ride in every condition” commented Nidecker Marketing and Team Manager Thierry Kuntz. “We are very proud of Cyril and his 1st place victory. This just further backs up the fact that we are making some of the best freeride boards on the market.”
Cyril is no stranger to the podium at Verbier. He claimed 2nd place in 2004, in 2005 he received 2nd for the Riders Award, and 3rd overall back in 2001. Cyril currently also rides for: Scott, Dakine, Columbia, Giro, ARVA, and Leysin. Be sure to check out Cryil’s setup for the Xtreme: Nidecker Legend 168, Carbon 900 binding and Project X boots. When he’s not charging the steeps of Verbier Neri prefers the freestyle performance of the Diablo.
This is the 1st podium for Nidecker’s new Ultimate Grip technology. Nidecker has incorporated a serrated edge between the binding contact points. “We have been working very hard on designing a way to improve edge grip between the bindings” remarked Kuntz. “Ultimate Grip allows a rider to maintain edge hold in hairy situations while still providing smooth edge to edge transitions without losing speed.
