Mammoth has officially opened for the 2007/2008 season. The temperatures have been around 60 degrees every day for a while now, and the single strip of snow was definitely a relief to everyone in the area. Especially since Mammoth Mountain was not even sure if they were going to be able to open for their set date. In the parking lot; as your walking to the lift the first thing you saw were a bunch of people with an RV,Kegs, Eggs, Shred and Bacon. They also had a beer pong table in the next parking space, that sounds like a pretty good way to start the day to me. As always there were a ton people from all over in line to get their first turns in. Some of the people that I was riding with were Kyle Lopicillo, Mitch Richmond, Tucker Watson, Matty Mo, and more. We pretty much took laps on the narrow strip the whole time and the snow was holding up pretty well with the sun beating down and everyone going down one trail. Overall considering the warm weather that's been up here, Mammoth Mountain definitely pulled through and done a hell of a job with their snowmaking and hopefully we will be seeing some more snow in the very near future.
Welcome to Mammoth Mountain, opening day. The walk up to the lift.
The view of the single run open for Mammoths opening day. 60 degree weather makes it hard to open on time, but Mammoth snow making pulled through.
Here is another view from the lift. That single patch made the day.
The top of the Mountain has some decent coverage, Ill bet Steve Klassen, owner of Wave Rave Snowboard Shop was getting it up there.
Binky, need we say more.
Harrison Gordon and kyle lopiccolo were their. These two are very talented snowboarders.
Matty Mo is the local DJ and is getting it on this nose press. This box was one the features the Mammoth park crew were able to set up.
Mitch front board 270 out.
Tucker Watson, nose press
Kyle Loppicolo half cab 50-50 backside 180 out.
Be sure to watch out from more Mammoth Updates and opening weekend festivities with Joe.
