Juno Award Winners And Nominees To Star At Sunshine
illScarlett, George Canyon, Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford and BC/DC to Play Free Concerts
Banff, Alberta - World-famous Rocky mountain resort, Sunshine Village, has signed a spectacular lineup of Juno Award winners and nominees to entertain skiers and boarders while they also enjoy tremendous spring conditions.
Surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery on earth, the line-up of free concerts for season pass, lift and gondola-only ticket holders includes:
Aaron Pritchett, April 19 and 20: Aaron exploded onto the country music scene in 2001, winning the Canadian Country Music Association’s Project Discovery Talent Contest. Soon after, he released the single “You Can’t Say I Didn’t Love You.” The track reached top 20 on Canadian radio for an enduring 30 week run and the video went to #3 on Country Music Television. With hits “Hold my Beer” and “Big Wheel,” Aaron received a Juno nomination for Country Recording of the Year in 2007, only to be beat out by George Canyon, who will be at Sunshine May 3 and May 4.
illScarlett, April 26 and April 27: Coming off the success of last summer's CD, All Day With It, illScarlett snagged their first Juno nomination for New Group of the Year at the Canadian Music Awards gala in 2008. The rock/dub band will play both Saturday and Sunday as part of the fun-filled Coors Light Peak Party.
George Canyon, May 3 and May 4: At the JUNO Awards in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2007 George accepted yet another Juno Award for “Somebody Wrote Love,” for Country Recording of the Year. It was George's second JUNO award, after winning Country Recording of the Year for “One Good Friend.” In 2008, George won the East Coast Music Awards Entertainer of the Year, his fourth-consecutive win as Entertainer of the Year
Gord Bamford, May 10 and May 11: From singing at community functions in Lacombe, Alberta, to opening shows for Tim McGraw and Kenny Rogers, Gord Bamford is hailed as one of the young guns of “honest” country. With Byron Hill, Bamford penned several Top 20 radio hits, including honky-tonk kickers “Joe’s Place” and “The Watering Hole” to great love songs such as “I Would For You” and “We’re All Cowboys.” With a 2008 JUNO award nomination for Country Recording of the Year, Bamford’s third album, Honkytonks and Heartaches, features the Top 10 hit singles “Blame It On That Red Dress” and “Stayed ‘Til Two.”
BC/DC, May 17, May 18, and May 19: Nelson's BC/DC has systematically redefined the concept of a tribute band. Their live show has become a legendary and necessary "rite-of-passage" amongst their unwavering supporters and believers. With over-the-top stage energy, they deliver every last note of the classic songs with absolute authority. They wrap up the Sunshine season in association with the renowned Slush Cup, starting at a special time of 12:30 pm on May 19.
All concerts start at 2 p.m. except the one scheduled on the last day of Canada’s longest skiing and boarding season.
