Snowboarding on the Ski Only Mountain.
Short Story; There are currently four resorts in the USA that don't allow snowboarders. Alta Utah, Deer Valley Utah, Taos New Mexico, and Mad River Glen Vermont
We snuck past the lift operators using our split boards. The snow was intense as the morning air lingered the calm after the storm. We reached the top of the resort and went for the split board transfer over.
When I first strapped in I had noticed that a few skiers were watching the entire thing. They yelled "snowboarders on mountain." This drew attention from all angles, a skier only mountain top and two snowboarders.
The chase began with myself and a skier that matched my level, size and experience, but a skier. I decided that a race of sorts would be better than confrontation, in other words run. We bolted down the mountain with low visibility when the face slashes were occurring every few seconds.
Tree lines and two people more like riding together for a moment rather than the now ended chase. I knew this when I saw him level up to me in the tree lines. Respect for only getting it from both of us saved me from going to jail. He noticed we just all wanted to snowboard and ski powder.
I will give it to him; he beat me to the bottom of the tree line. He stopped to let his friends know that he had beet the punk snowboarder down. It is always said that snowboarders will never be as fast as skiers. “Slow and steady win the race” I buried him with a heavy powder spray as I passed him on my way to my car to meet my buddy that I had poached the “ski” only mountain with.
