Jiminy Peak Celebrates Our Military
Hancock, MA - In honor of our service men and women, all members of the Military, both active and retired, will receive $10 off the price of a lift ticket on STRIDE Wounded Warriors weekend at Jiminy Peak taking place February 29th through March 2nd. Active members should present their military ID and retired members should present some form of identification showing proof of service.
Tickets may be purchased at the Crane Lodge Ticket Window at the resort. February 29-March 2, 2008 will mark the third annual “Wounded Warrior Snowsports Event” in the Capital District, hosted by STRIDE, a local non-profit that teaches adaptive sports. Fifteen heroic Soldiers and Marines who have returned from Iraq after sustaining serious permanent injuries, along with their families or caregivers will attend. On Saturday, March 1st the special guests will head to the slopes of Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, MA, in escort by the Patriot Guard, to learn how to ski and snowboard as a way of rehabilitating the psychological wounds adjusting to life with a disability.
The STRIDE program with its 75 volunteer instructors are trained extensively to offer lessons to individuals with a variety of abilities to include blind skiers, paralyzed skiers with spinal cord injuries, head trauma or amputees.
