Heavenly Hosts Jackpot Rail Jam Series
The JackPot Rail Jam Series will Include Four Open Jams and One Invitational Final Event
Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. - Heavenly Mountain Resort will host this season’s first JackPot Rail Jam event on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. on World Cup at the California Base. This event will guarantee the top ten star participants a spot in the JackPot Rail Jam Series Finals to be held on April 12, 2008.
The JackPot Rail Jam will be held under the lights on World Cup and will feature the Smith limo as the feature. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. in the Race Department Office at the California Lodge. The event is limited to the first 50 participants to sign up, so morning registration is suggested. The entry fee is $5 and the event is open to any skier or rider with the guts to attack the Smith limo, helmets are required to participate. There is $700 purse, with cash being awarded to the best participants in each category: men’s skiing, men’s snowboarding, women’s skiing, women’s snowboarding and best overall trick.
“We are very excited about this season’s JackPot Rail Jam Series,” said Heavenly Terrain Park Manager Michael Thomas. “Partnering with Smith to host the limo for this event is very exciting and participants will be amped when they see it!”
The event will be hosted by the Heavenly Terrain Park Crew. DJ Kronic will provide onmountain tunes for the evening. Judging the event will be Trevor Snowden, High Roller Team member, and J.P. Lagos, owner of TheSnowLife.com.
“The judges will be scoring on overall impression,” said Thomas. “They will be looking for creativity of tricks, style and use of the feature, consistency and solid landings.”
Practice will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the event kicking off at 5:00 p.m. with 50 competitors, which will be reduced to 25 competitors within the first half hour. From 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. the these 25 competitors will be competing for the top ten spots that will be invited to the JackPot Rail Jam finals on April 12. From 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the top ten will compete for prize money and the winners in each category will be announced and awarded prize money.
About Heavenly’s Terrain Parks
Heavenly Mountain Resort will offer skiers and riders three terrain parks, one boardercross and one super pipe this season. Heavenly’s parks are designed to help riders progress from beginner to expert, with features designed for each level. High Roller is located off the Canyon chairlift on the California side and is for advanced riders. It is also the home for the South Shore Soldiers camp each spring. The High Roller Super Pipe will be located on Lower High Roller Trail, just below the terrain park, and will be Lake Tahoe’s largest pipe, cut with Heavenly’s 22-foot Zaugg pipe cutter. Powderbowl Terrain Park is located on Upper Powderbowl run off of Ridge Run and is for intermediate riders. This park is a perfect transition for improving skills to prepare for the High Roller advanced park. The Cascade Boardercross will be located off the Tamarack chairlift on the California/Nevada border. It features burms, whoops, step-ups and table tops for the experienced rider.
