Gujo-Gifu, Japan - Tyler Jewell (Steamboat Springs, CO) led U.S. riders, finishing fifth in a World Cup parallel giant slalom Sunday. Jewell's finish puts him in 13th place in the World Cup parallel giant slalom standings.
Jasey Jay Anderson of Canada won the men's competition followed by Roland Fischnaller of Italy in second and Matthew Morison of Canada in third.
Michelle Gorgone (Boston, MA) was the top American women in 18th. World Cup parallel giant slalom points leader Nicolien Sauerbreij of the Netherlands won the women's races. Julia Dujmovits of Austria was second and Ekaterina Tudigescheva of Russia was third.
World Cup snowboarding now moves on to Lake Placid, NY with the Visa U.S. Snowboarding Cup with snowboardcross March 1, SBX Team event March 2 and parallel giant slalom March 3. World Cup halfpipe will be held in Calgary, Alberta, Feb. 29.
