Copper Mountain Closes For Winter Season April 13
Summer Recreation Includes 3 Ring Weekend, Copper Courage Classic and Copper Triangle Bicycle Tour and Guitar Town, Gathering of World’s Best Guitarists
Copper Mountain, CO – Winding down one of the snowiest of winters in the resort’s history, Copper Mountain will close for the season this Sunday, April 13. The season was marked by more than 324 inches of spectacular snowfall, ranking among the top ten annual years. The resort offered several new guest options, including: new glades, flexible start times for lessons, free tips from the Ski & Ride School, free snowcat trips and the groundbreaking for Woodward at Copper, a winter focused action sports center with an indoor artificial snow environment and progressive teaching tools scheduled to open this December.
Copper Mountain’s summer schedule begins Saturday, June 13 with a variety of hiking, cycling, golf and family activities. Highlights include:
* July 4 – 6/ 3 Ring Weekend – The weekend is a free family event celebrating nature and the mountain. On July 5 listen to live music from Rusted Root and visit a sustainable “eco-village” including recycled art installations and hands-on, interactive activities designed to educate and entertain. Activities include Primp My Ride, a kid-powered parade with bikes, trikes and skateboards decorated with reused and recycled crafts, to Recycled Rags, plus a DJ dance party that features favorite thrift store fashions. Copper’s 3 Ring is a weekend-long event dedicated to providing a fun, free connection to our resort, our families and our environment.
* July 25-28/ Copper Courage Classic – Guests travel for a cause during the 19th annual Courage Classic, a three-day, 157-mile bike tour benefitting The Children’s Hospital Foundation in Denver. Route leads from Leadville to Summit County and back with quiet backcountry roads, challenging climbs and picturesque views.
* August 1 – 3/ Copper Triangle Bicycle Tour – The Copper Triangle benefits the Davis Phinney Foundation which is aimed at understanding, preventing and treating Parkinson's disease. The Tour is one of Colorado’s classic alpine road rides and is graced with 78 miles of breathtaking scenery, gorgeous roads and three challenging climbs.
* August 9/ The Copper US Race Series Half Marathon - The series returns for a second year of competition. In addition to the half marathon through the scenic Rocky Mountains, runners can test their skills with the family style 12k run and 5k walk. The exhilarating course starts and finishes in the heart of the Village at Copper and has a little something for every level of runner.
* August 9 – 10/ Guitar Town – Two days of the world’s best guitarists come together for the 4th annual Guitar Town festival. Guitar sales and expos, workshops and jam sessions make this the perfect weekend for guitar and music enthusiasts. Past performers include Dickey Betts, Buddy Guy, John Jorgenson, David Lindley, Tim Reynolds and Joe Satriani.
* August 29 – 31/ Copper Country - A Labor Day festival tradition at Copper, Copper Country celebrates the best of the American spirit. Incredible live music, the country’s top fine artists and even nationally ranked rodeo competitors come together to make this THE Labor Day event for the entire family. Past performers include Lyle Lovett, Big and Rich, The Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Frampton and many more.
