Stefan Häusl showed the crowd an amazing run. He performed his technical difficult chosen run the most fluidly. He impressed the jury with his clean sticked jumps. He won with an evident advance of 6,1 points to the 2nd placed Swedish guy Andreas Fransson and the third placed Matthias Haunholder from Austria.
Max Zipser (AUT) impressed in the snowboard category with a spectacular line and won at his first Stimorol ENGADINSNOW participation, followed by the local Roberto Furger (SUI) and Mike Äschbach (SUI). For the girls, the French Aurélie Garcin (snowboard) and the German Katherina Mihaljevic (freeski) won the freeride competition.
The freeride competition took place under best conditions. The invited top freeriders came across sunshine and best freeride conditions at the north face of Mount Corvatsch. Some riders performed a crazy spectacle with huge jumps from cliffs higher then 30 meters. But the jury was more impressed by the good control and the right choice of line in the up to 60° steep face, then by the big jumps.
Only satisfied and happy faces from competitors, spectators and the organisation at the prize giving right after the competition. It was a wonderful and successful event day.
Big Air
An amazing scenery with spectacular jumps from top riders at the great Big Air Finale on the Mount Corvatsch in Silvaplana. The snowboarder Hubert Fill from Austria and the Freeskier Boen Ferguson from Australia won the explosive Big Air Finale of the Stimorol ENGADINSNOW 2008.
The Big Air Final from Stimorol ENGADINSNOW took successfully place under blue sky and mild temperatures. The competition level was high. You could admire tricks like switch 720 Mute Nose, backside 720 Kelly Air or a Cab 900. Most impressed were the international judges by the snowboarder Hubert Fill (AUT), followed by Alessandro Boyens (GER) and Kilian Wiget (SUI). After three jumps the winner was determined: Boen Ferguson (AUS) wins, Roy Kittler (GER) is second and the young 15 years old Elias Ambühl (SUI) is third. The swiss top athlete Ueli Kestenholz visited the Stimorol ENGADINSNOW and featured on the last event day a spectacular speedriding show down the Corvatsch North Face.
Perfect weather framed the wonderful Big Air Final day at the Stimorol ENGADINSNOW 2008. The riders were ready for the big Final. Sharp 10:30 the freeskiers and snowboarders the show began. The showed difficult tricks with a lot of style: the level was high. The 15 year old talent Elias Ambühl from Masein, Switzerland, impressed the crowd as well as his concurrence and ended on the third place among the top-class participants. The most impressive jump showed Boen Ferguson from Australia. He wins the Final followed by Roy Kittler (GER) and Elias Ambühl (SUI). The snowboarders performed a spectacular Final. The spirit was great and the riders amazing tricks. The winner for the snowboarders is the Austrian Hubert Fill followed by Alessandro Boyens (GER) and Kilian Wiget (SUI).
A successful and wonderful event day is finding the end and forms the closure of an unforgettable 6th Stimorol ENGADINSNOW edition. The organisation, the competitors and sponsors are thrilled about the succsseful event with a lot of action and without bigger incidents.
