2008 Grandvalira Total Fight Results
Andorra – The last few events of the Men’s TTR Tour are certainly getting the best of the weather as the Swatch TTR 4-Star Grandvalira Total Fight was dominated by sunny blue skies that complemented the stylish tricks stomped by a huge gathering of stoked riders. Finnish rider Ville Uotila took top honours in the Andorra Slopestyle contest, bagging 700 TTR ranking points, 7000 Euros, taking home the 4-Star TTR Title and moving him into TTR World No. 13. Austrian rider Rudi Kroell followed in second place as Victor De Le Rue from France rounded out the Top 3.
It had been dumping in the Pyrenees Mountains for two days prior to the competition giving the shaping crew ample opportunity to carve out the best set up possible. The sun said hello just in time for the qualifications that emitted a sweet, mellow, Spanish Atmosphere. 15 riders made it into the finals where they fought with the invited riders, a field that included the likes of Ville Uotila, Rudi Kroell, Martin Cernik (CZE) and and now TTR World No. 32 Jaako Ruha (FIN) to name a few.
The finals gave a unique approach in determining the victor. After the first heat on the final day, there were just 16 riders left who competed in pairs, with each winner moving on to the next round. When all was said and done, the final Title Bout saw Finnish rider Ville Uotila pitted against Austrian rider Rudi Kroell. Ville however came out on top with a super smooth run consisting of a switch BS 9 off the big kicker, a FS 7 off the step-up, finishing with a FS 180 to Switch BS 5 off the butter box.
Rudi Kroell, who is now TTR World No. 31, still impressed the judges all day long, but unfortunately couldn’t stick his FS 10 off the big kicker and had to settle for second. Nevertheless, Kroell was pumped to be in Andorra: “I’m here at this event for the second time and it’s a really nice event! I got sixth last year and it was super fun to come back. It was perfect riding here again. It’s just nice to shred here, because it’s different, it’s the Pyrenees! It’s a different style here, with all the Spanish and Argentinean guys. I really like it and I’ll be back at next year’s Total Fight for sure.”
