2008 Burton Halfpipe Invitational
Jämtland County, Sweden - The Burton Halfpipe Invitational is 2008’s most exiting snowboard event in Scandinavia. After last year’s amazing show, we will turn up the volume again! The global elite of snowboarders will compete in Ĺre for glory, prestige and 100,000 SEK (16,700 USD).
BHPI is far from your standard HP event: It will give you more creativity and self-expression combined with unpredictable results. The arena will be the best and biggest that Sweden ever offered for HP riding.
Among the talented riders will be Terje Haakonsen, Mikkel Bang, Hampus Mosesson, Jakob Wilhelmsson, Chris Sörman, Markuu Koski, Marco Grilic, Pettu Piiroinen and many more.
For the first time the Burton Halfpipe Invitational will be a Swatch TTR 3 STAR event. The Swatch TTR Tour is the largest culmination of independent freestyle snowboard events acting under one common tour flag. Now in its 6th year, the TTR boasts an impressive ten-month contest season including top rated snowboarding events over four geographical zones. The winner of the combined TTR world pro snowboard tour will be rewarded with 50.000 US Dollar.
As requested by the 40 invited riders the format of the BHPI 2008 will be “head 2 head”. The best run from each athlete will be judged and compared with their chosen opponent’s best run.
Five riders will make it to the main final, where they will have two more runs. The best run will be judged and rated from 1-13. Directly after the last run the prize giving will be held on the main square in the heart of ĹRE.
Z-Tv will have a stage on the square, where live performances will be showcased as well as DJs, riding highlights and interviews. A true all-you-need-after-shred feel! This is also where the audience, media and riders get to celebrate the lucky 13 from the past shredding day up on the hill.
When night falls there will be even more entertainment both on Friday and Saturday. Among the artists and DJs there will be Jonas Game, The Studio, Adam Craft and many more.
