The final day of the 4th Annual Burton Abominable Snow Jam finished off with the slopestyle event. 44 of the world's most excellent park riders met up at the Timberline public park to compete for over $40,000, a Harley Davidson Motorcycle and a Volvo. The slopestyle course consisted of four rails in a row, into a triple jump line. The riders had three runs to secure themselves the highest average score. A snowboarder has to be masterfully skilled on rails and kickers to win this event. In reality, the talent was humbling. To win this event, you had to put together a sick 7 combination run without even touching your hands down. Many of the riders had flawless runs and it came down to which rider had the best flawless combos. This breed of event is one of the best to watch. Mostly because there is a fundamental nature of snowboarding that exists here; full of energy, concern, high spirits, fury, pain, and contentment all mixed into one course.

The action kicked off with the ladies and they all began piecing their runs together in an attempt to get the flawless run. Each girl had something special to bring to the course and they all shined in that way. Erin Comstock put together a couple really solid, technical runs. Local girl Megan Ginter tore it up. She was definitely showing the girls what happens when you shred Mt Hood all summer. Hana Beaman took second place and also won a Harley Davison motorcycle.

A lot of the men were tearing the course apart, but there was a minor few that allowed the course to tear them apart. Lonnie Kauk stepped up and consistently stomped all three of his runs. His control on the kickers is unlike any other rider, he stomps his landings perfect. Scotty Lago did a huge rodeo five that sent him almost to flat on the second jump. He stomped the shit out of it and that awarded him best trick. At the end of the day Scotty rode away with a new HD camera and a Harley Davison Motorcycle. Yale Cousino really stood out and showed that he is not only one of the best rail riders out there, but he can jump too. His runs were technical and clean. Yale does this trick that is a frontside boardslide to boardslide 270 that is sooo smooth. Torstein Horgmo put together a banger run and he ended up winning the event. At the end of this contest Torstein rode home with $20,000 and a new Volvo car.

All in all the Burton Abominable Snow Jam was jam packed with sick action from some of the best snowboarders in the world. Can't wait to see what goes down next year. A big thanks goes out to the Dingo for being the man, and Burton Snowboards for putting together an awesome contest.
