Saturday, November 24th 2007. Mission Beach, CA., -- Belmont Park. - 3rd Annual 2007 Beanies and Bikinis Rail Jam Lucas Magoon strikes back taking home the 10K for the second year in a row.  2007 Hot Dawgz and Handrails winner Melissa Evans holding it down for the ladies taking back 2k to Summit County, CO.

Riders Included: Lucas Magoon, Nik Dirks, Keegan Valaika, Scott Stevens, Scott Vine, Greg Bretz, Jonas Michilot, Chad Otterstrom, Harrison Gordon, Kyle Lopiccolo, Sketchy D, Nick Visconti, Tyler Flanagan, Melissa Evans, Lorie Courier, Desiree Melancon, Sage Kotxenberg, Blaise Kotzenberg, Nirvana Ortanez Spencer Link, Jared Dauwoud, James Shahone, Corey Noble, Bryn Valakai, Benny Hernreich, Ryan Tarbell, Eric Fernandez, Jake Devine,
Chris Grenier and More.

The 3rd annual Beanies and Bikinis went off without a hinge this past weekend down in Mission Beach, CA.  Put on by Sun Diego board shop, Ice was trucked in and blown on the four jib set up in the parking lot of Belmont Park.  Over 40 riders showed up and the contest broke down into four forty Minute Jams. Two Men’s qualifiers, ladies final and a men’s final. Judging the Event was Mammoth’s park manager Oren Tanzer, the fashionable Kevin Castillo, Louie Vito and Dingo and Pat ” the eye” held down the mic.

Just as the sun was starting to set the guys started things off with the first qualifier jam to parking lot full of spectators and industry vendor tents.
Highlights: Harrison Gordon’s various combos on and off the kink rail, Kyle Lopiccolo flying off the back flat bar in the face of a channel 6 Fox news reporter, Chad Otterstrom taking a few laps and Keegan Valaika earning his spot in the finals.
The next group of guys started heat two, a forty minute Jam with the majority of them moving on to the Finals.
Highlights: Scotty Stevens with his creative style on pretty much everything, Scott Vine backside three on the down bar, Nick Dirk spinning on and off every rail, Dan Brisse going down hard catching the kink to flat landing backwards and Corey Noble 270’s and gap on the kink.

A surprisingly strong showing from the ladies this year. They got things started to a pretty heavy final.  Right away it was a battle between Desiree Melancon, Melissa Evans and Lorie Currier.  Desiree was killing it working the down bar the a hard way, 180 to switch 5050 and pulled an insane back 180 to switch 5050 180 on the down part of the box pulling it off flawlessly. Placing her in 3rd place.  Lorie Currier rode well and surprised everybody with a huge 5050 to gap 360 off the kink rail landing her in second.  Melissa Evans proved to be the most consistent with various combos on each jib, thus taking home the fat $2,000 check.

Topping the night off, the main event – A heavy and heated final between the ten best guys of the night.  It was a strong start and was non-stop for the entire 40 minutes.
Highlights: 360’s were quite popular with every rider. Nick Dirks definitely had that shit on lock. Doing backside and front side three’s on and off, gapping the down bar to flat.. he was killing it.   Keegan Valaika was consistent with back lip down the kink with 270 out 270 on and off the down bar and various combos on the box.  Lucas Magoon had the Sticky Icky on his side and proved to put him at a higher level from the rest doing his usual unique tricks, tap switch hard way 180’s to 180 off the kink… he slaughter that thing from regular to switch and frontside to backside earning him the 10,000 buck-a-roo’s
Overall the contest was pretty sick… in my opinion the level of riding and the line up proved to be a lot higher quality and much more entertaining then the most recent rail jam’s, and not to mention the lovely Bikini ladies and the beach was only a couple hundred feet away.

Thanks to Monster, Boost Mobile, Electric, Ride, Wave House, Transworld and Paul at Sun Diego for putting on a great event.  See you next year!
