Hey Curley what’s happening?

Yeah Andrew, what’s up buddy

How was your summer?

It was good man. I ended up in Argentina for a minute, which was a blast and spent a lot of time in LA,  fuckin around.  A friend of mine is a key grip and got me a couple gigs. A lot goes into tv and movies sets. I never realized. The jobs I was on were tiny too.

Why, How and who got you started shooting photos?
I’ve always liked photography and had an interest in it. I never thought I’d pursue it as a career, but when I moved to Mammoth there was a lack of photographers and I started shooting a couple days a week when I was hurt. There it started and I couldn’t stop. It began to consume me. All I wanted was to get better and get more opportunities to shoot.

Jake Devine | Jeff Curley

Did you shoot snow from the beginning?
Pretty much, I mean, the first shots I ever took with intentions of trying to get published was within the snowboard industry.

Last year was a pretty crazy season for you. How long where you on the road for?
Roughly from Nov- May. I try to go home once a month or every five weeks or so for a couple days.

Those Canada photos with John J looked insane. What was your best trip?
All the time I spent in Canada was well worth it. I went back I think 3 or 4 times between Golden and whistler. I can’t wait to get back there this year.
All in all I would say the 2 Canada trips with john j were the best of the year, productivity and fun wise. That kid is amazing and gets it done so proper.
There was a couple days In Baker that I will never forget as well.

You lived in Mammoth for some time what sparked the move to Oregon?
I hate to say it but, I’m chasing coat tails. My girlfriend decided to go to school in Oregon and I came along. She keeps me sane. Kinda

You’re Top three most inspiring snowboard Photographers, Why?
1. Tim Zimmerman, do I really have to explain it?  He has helped me out more than anyone else, letting me roll to his shoots and kickin that knowledge. Zim is lookin out for everyone.
2. Jeff Curtes and Blotto, These two are a serious force in our industry and turn up some of the best shots period.
3. Cole Barash
Most of the photographers I’ve met in snowboarding have inspired me in one way or another but It’s crazy to me that Cole grew up doing this. He got in the game so early and his photos are always amazing and different.

You have shot with tons of different crews from Standard to Grenade.  Who are your favorite guys to go out with?
All the crews have been a good time. I like seeing everyone’s different approach to doing this and being a part of the process is exciting.

After each shoot and season you must have thousands of pictures.  How much time do you devote to post processing?
Photoshop is ruining my life. A lot of time goes into the computer process

What was the last photo shoot you were on? Who were you with, where did you go?  How did it go?
I did a little photo shoot for Danny Kass at the Grenade Halloween party a couple nights ago. It was funny shit. A bunch of drunken fuckers I haven’t seen in a while.

What one thing have you been most stoked on in your photo career so far?
I cant really put it on one thing. I’m happy with everything so far. I mean I feel lucky that I can keep this rollin right now. It’s a competitive little world.

Nate Ferrill | Hood | Jeff Curley

Favorite Photo you have taken so far?
I have a couple favorites but one the sticks in my mind is this slash of Bryan Iguchi. The guch kills it.

Any new goals, trips, and people you want to shoot or go to this coming season?
Like every year I want to do better than the last. Alaska is always on my hit list. I just want to be able to stay busy and riding myself. If I don’t get in my days I start to get bitter.

Any thanks or anything you would like to say?
I thank anyone who has invested there time or money into my cause.

Right on Curley, Thanks a lot!
