Offseason upgrades increase efficiency and provide better early-season snow - Carrabassett Valley, Maine – With flurries falling and temps in the low to mid twenties yesterday morning, Sugarloaf began snowmaking operations in preparation for the 2009/10 season. The familiar sound of snowguns echoed through Carrabassett Valley as snowmakers covered the upper section of Tote Road for several hours.

Kevin Pearce 12th in Saas-Fee World Cup - Saas-Fee, Switzerland - Halfpipers dropped into their first World Cup competition of the season Thursday and none other than Australian Torah Bright and Kazuhiro Kokubo of Japan took the wins in Switzerland. The U.S. was represented in the finals by X Games silver medalist Kevin Pearce (Norwich, VT) who finished 12th.

Johnnie is the newest member of the Rome team and he’s quickly made his mark on the snowboard world with an endless stream of photos and video featuring his smooth style and an almost rebirth of late bonks and stylely jibs. For opening day, Friday, Nov. 6, Copper has top to bottom skiing/riding with an 18” mid-mountain base, 3 lifts, 60 acres and 4 trails open - the intermediate Main Vein and Rhapsody trails with access from the American Eagle lift, Ptarmigan Trail with access from the Excelerator lift, as well as the Eagle Jib Park with multiple box, rail and jump features. In addition, for those still perfecting their technique, Easy Rider lift and the enclosed learning area is also open.
